Theives make off with 15,000 lbs. of copper wire from area plant

Washington County Sheriffs Deputies searching for several people in a white truck that allegedly stole copper wire from Eramet

     Marietta, OH - On Friday February 3, 2012 at approximately 6:32pm several individuals in a white dually pickup truck with a flatbed with wooden or metal slats for side racks entered the storage area at the Eramet Plant, 16705 SR 7, Marietta and loaded approximately 15,000 pounds of copper wire into the back of their truck.  Each section of the wire is 4 feet by 3 inches and weighs about 40 pounds.  The approximate recycling value is $25,000.  The truck exited Eramet at 7:04pm traveling eastbound on Blue Knob Road going towards SR 7 at a high rate of speed.  Anyone with information concerning this theft or knowledge of the owner of the vehicle is requested to call Deputy Sheriff Scott Smeeks at 740-376-7070 Ext 0
